Sunflower Festival

Nebraska's Largest
Sunflower Festival
New Dates: August 21- September 7
Our sunflowers need a little more time to bloom!
While we originally anticipated opening Sunflower Festival this week, Mother Nature had a different timeline in mind. We want every guest to experience our sunflower fields at their best, so we’re giving the flowers one more week to grow.
NEW OPENING DAY: AUGUST 21
Wander through over 14 acres of breathtaking sunflowers, explore fields filled with colorful blooms, create your own bouquet, and spend the day making memories at Nelson Produce Farm. Whether you're looking for the perfect family outing, a girls' day, a date night, or incredible photos, our Sunflower Festival is one of Nebraska's favorite late-summer traditions.
More sunflower days may be added! Festival dates may be extended depending on bloom conditions. Additional dates will be announced as the festival progresses.

Bloom Status & Field Conditions
Updated August 12
The sunflowers are growing, but they need a little more time!
We originally anticipated our fields would be ready this week, but Mother Nature had a different timeline in mind. While we're seeing more blooms open every day, the fields aren't quite where we want them to be for the full Sunflower Festival experience.
Bloom timing is weather-dependent.

North Field
STILL GROWING
Home to 20+ unique sunflower varieties, this field is still growing and getting ready to bloom. We expect varieties to begin opening around August 21, with more color appearing as the days go on.

South Field Top Terraces
STILL GROWING
The top terraces are almost there! Sunflowers are beginning to open, with more blooms appearing every day. Expect this area to continue filling in over the next week.

South Field Bottom Terraces
STILL GROWING
These sunflowers need a little more time! The bottom terraces are still growing, with blooms currently expected around August 29.

A Note About Specialty Flowers
We planted specialty flowers with hopes of adding even more color to the fields this year, but Mother Nature had other plans!
Unfortunately, many of our specialty flowers did not grow as expected.
The good news? Our 20+ varieties of sunflowers are still growing, and we can't wait to see the variety field come to life as they begin blooming.
Farming is always an adventure, and sometimes Mother Nature gets the final say!
